Detecting Prostate Cancer
Some
specialists recommend men to get checked for prostate
cancer at age 50 and only then if the man can expect to live at least
10 years.
|
Aggressive
prostate cancer, however, may occur in younger men. Age 40 may be
the best time for a baseline PSA test for every man.
|
Get tested by age 40 if
you are an African-American man or if you have a family history
of prostate cancer. Keep in mind, some men with family
history of other cancers, or of exposure to toxins or for unknown
reasons develop prostate cancer under age 40.
