General Disclaimer: PSA Rising is designed for informational purposes only and is not engaged in rendering medical advice or professional services.
News and information provided through PSA Rising should not be used for diagnosing or treating a health problem or a disease. It is not a substitute for professional care. If you have or suspect you may have a health problem, consult your healthcare provider.
PSA Rising is an independent site carrying news, information, personal memoir and opinion about prostate cancer. Sources and authors may include individuals or organizations, as identified.
PSA Rising does not offer medical advice but does report, quote and cite published medical views and research findings.
Please be aware, this site is not run by doctors, nurses or other medically trained or medically qualified staff. It is a webe site created, edited and maintained by an independent journalist with 16 years' experience in the prostate cancer community.
PSA Rising does not endorse any specific treatment modalities nor any nutrional or other products. We do not publish "testimonials" on behalf od any specific treatment, therapy or institution.
The web site does publish freely submitted personal memoirs and opinions from people whose lives have been touched by prostate cancer. Each story or article and any accompanying photos or graphics are copyright to the writer. Opinions expressed are the responsibility of each writer and should not be taken as medical advice.
PSA Rising carries two types of links:
1) Throughout the site we carry unpaid links to journals, news outlets, cancer organizations hospitals, esearch centers and other medical entities, support groups and mailing lists and patient webpages. We select these links ourselves. We have no control over their contents nor do we endorse the value or accuracy of outside sites.
2) Paid advertising is marked "advertisement." We do not run hidden link ads or commissioned "puff pieces." The site conforms with the criteria of the Health on the Net (HON) code.
We take our mission seriously and strive to apply sound journalistic practices and standards so as to provide reliable information. We check facts and correct errors. However, our output and coverage are selective, limited and incomplete. Information carried on this site may be inconsistent, contradictory, out of date or wrong. None of it is intended to replace or encroach on the physician-patient relationship.
This year in the USA alone, 27,000 men are expected to die of prostate cancer. Most of those who die of this disease suffer a long illness. We believe men may have a better chance of avoiding or surviving prostate cancer the more they know and the more empowered they are to overcome the role of "passive patient."
If you are searching the web because you are dealing with prostate cancer, we hope some of the material on this site will be useful to you and encourage you. Please consult qualified physicians and reach out for support from family, friends and fellow survivors. Good luck!
