Many factors can adversely affect sexual performance. Physical disability illness, obesity, medications, aging, stress, grief, emotional distress and relationship conflicts may all at times contribute to sexual dysfunction.

Prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment may also contribute to sexual dysfunction. To help men and their partners cope with and manage sexual dysfunction, the Krongrad Institute has brought in Rhonda Fine, PhD, ARNP. Dr. Fine will head up the Institute’s efforts to support men and their sexual partners after prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.

“Sex education and counseling before and after surgery,” Dr. Fine says, “are essential to physical and emotional healing.” She goes on:

Such education allows patients and partners to plan for and address potential problems and have realistic expectations. Strategies of therapy are very patient specific and must include variations of therapy, education, medications, and aids for the patient and their partner. I practice psychotherapy and psychopharmacology as they relate to human sexuality, depression, anxiety disorders, co-dependency, marital relationship, conflicts, divorce and separation, transition, post traumatic stress syndrome, stress management and life style modification. Patients feel confident when their specialists work together as they do at the Krongrad Institute. This helps them cope and maximize chances for full emotional and physical function.

Dr. Fine is a Diplomat of The American Academy of Clinical Sexologists and a Board Certified Sex Therapist. In addition she is a medically trained and licensed Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), a practicing EMDR Clinician and Clinical Associate Professor. Dr. Fine is a member of EMDR International Association, The American Academy of Clinical Sexologists, The Broward Association of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.

Institute Founder and Medical Director Arnon Krongrad, MD says: “Dr. Fine is uniquely qualified to work with men with prostate cancer. Among the qualifications that make her special is her history as a surgical ICU nurse and her educational credentials, especially her specialization in the field of human sexuality at the doctorate level. We are delighted that she has joined us.”

Dr. Fine is available for private or couple consultations.
